“I believe Shetlanders have always been resourceful, creative and hardworking and I am fascinated by the women of previous generations who had many responsibilities and little time to themselves, yet found time to be creative knitters. Their hands were never idle and the fine lace garments they produced using handspun Shetland wool clothed their families, was a source of additional household income and offered the women a degree of financial independence.
Often there are strong and resourceful women in our lives who inspire us. Often we need to remember and celebrate our own strength and resilience.
